Behind the scenes at The Photography Show 2018
The Photography Show 2018 was the place to be for anyone interested in photography. We were for the third year running on the Saturday and Sunday. This year was extra special as we hosted a Creative Catwalk on the live stage but also had our own Behind-the-Scenes stand.
The Night Before
We arrived on Friday night to see our stand and sort out the last-minute arrangements needed for the team. We were delighted to see how much space we had and we even had a changing room. Our PixaPro-sponsored studio area was also ready for equipment to arrive on Saturday morning.

Team PHOTOSHOOT arrived and started preparing their kit ready to get going. It was not long before there were bags, props, body paint, latex, hairspray and makeup everywhere. Our creative team were raring to go and started to work on their models live, doing what they do best … getting creative.
Once the show opened, we soon attracted a crowd and had so much fun chatting and meeting lots of our readers, along with meeting new ones. Visitors were chatting to the models and makeup artists, delighted at the opportunity to see the behind-the-scenes and a photo-shoot created before their eyes.
We had eight different looks over the two days, which, as you will see throughout the following articles, offered some fantastic photographic opportunities.
Day One Team Our Makeup Artists and Models were Kelly Taylor (makeup artist) and Caroline Bailey-Read (model). Robyn Gilder (makeup artist) and Abbie Hughes (model). Helen Miles (makeup artist) and Verity Millett (model). Lauren Case (makeup artist) and Paige Rohanna (model). Photography – Dex Morgan, TK Kinross, Mike Hardley and the odd image taken by me (Jane Kelly). Videography – Mike Hardley.
Creative Catwalk on the Live Stage
So, there I was again, hosting another Creative Catwalk, on the Live Stage in front of hundreds of people. Our chosen themes this year were Science, Environment, 1980’S Hollywood Film and 1940’s Vintage Britain. It is always a bit nerve racking to start with but you soon get into the swing of it.

All our models took on their roles brilliantly and performed to the crowds. I had the easy job of just introducing everyone. After the team did their bit, we invited photographers to come to the stage and take closer images, moving offstage to enable further photo opportunities with different angles.
Behind the scenes at The Photography Show 2018 : Day Two
We woke up to pretty heavy snow and chaos on the roads and public transport. This of course was a potential nightmare for people trying to get the show but our PHOTOSHOOT Team made it, even our ‘Freddy’ model from Yorkshire! The show was however quieter than normal but there were still lots of people visiting our stand.
Day Two Team – Makeup Artists and Models: Tara Louise Kemp (makeup artist) and Jules Powell (model). Vickoria Stanislavova (makeup artist), Susan Moss (hair artist) and Erika Hyde (model). Once again, a huge thank you to PixaPro (Essential Photo) for sponsoring our studio a third year running. The PHOTOSHOOT Magazine team were on hand to offer assistance for camera setups and lighting. Our models worked their magic, making sure that everyone got great images. Our visitors had a great time, as for some this was their first time taking portraiture shots. They left truly amazed with the results you can achieve using professional studio lighting.
