“Everything they sell works with 21st century technology”
A big thank you to Retro Bazaar for working with in association with us by providing a selection of retro props for our latest shoot. As a special thanks we presented them with a front cover which took pride of place at their stand at the November Vintage Fair in Milton Keynes.
Glynis Roe and Becky Cashen owners of Retro Bazaar, met a few years ago through mutual friends. Having both worked in the IT something completely different and get out of the rat race, these interesting ladies gave up their jobs and turned a hobby into a business. Becky’s background was electronics and computers and, along with pottery, they began by finding old phones in markets and shops around the country and making them work. They have extended their range of goods over the years to include all sorts of fantastic retro pieces, industry they wanted to do spanning many eras.
“Glynis and Becky now take vintage technology and bring it into modern use”
Glynis and Becky now take vintage technology and bring it into
modern use, updating retro record players so they can be played on iPhones, radiograms that can work like MP3 players, great looking retro telephones that can be plugged into BT sockets and fabulous old clocks and lighting.
They rescue tired and unloved retro pieces and give them a new lease of life as well as restoring client’s treasured items.
At the moment, Retro Bazaar sells their wares through shows in London and all around the country, as well as from their website
But these ladies have what Glynis calls their ‘grand plan’; to expand into a permanent retail environment, with a coffee shop, record room, studios for bands to rehearse in – lots of diverse, big plans. We wish them all the luck with this.
