My name is Tracey and I am a designer and maker at Cookie Couture Clothing. Our fantastic team produced these stunning images on a shoot at The Testmatch Hotel. Elegance and beauty were key to this project, which had been planned for quite some time.
The black and red dress was commissioned to be worn by the beautiful model, Freyaa Ray. Dexter Morgan, the photographer, found Freyaa, whose red and black hair and natural look, perfectly matched the dress, which I designed and created.
Dexter asked me if I had anything in my collection of clothes that suited a Victorian style shoot. This particular dress came into being from my daughter’s prom outfit. The only thing needed was cleavage, which the corset creates. I have a particular fascination for Victorian outfits, particularly corsets. This one became ‘Enchanted Emilie’, as my daughter handed her dress to me to embellish.
This was the second time I had worked with Dexter. Previously, we did a photography workshop ‘Sins’ project.
Everything came together for this shoot through fate and circumstances. By chance, I met the proprietors of The Testmatch in West Bridgford; Tania and Sophie, who were very happy to let us do our shoot in their amazing 1920s, Art Deco style hotel.
The makeup was by Charlotte Moore. I had worked with Charlotte before on burlesque shows. She is an absolutely amazing MUA, who can turn her hand to anything from vintage showgirl to gothic Victoriana with no questions asked.
